Type Locality and Naming

It was named by Lin Baoyu and Qiu Hongrong in 1983. The type section is located at the slope foot, about 1km southwest of Kede Village, Pazhug District, Tibgri (Xêgar) County, the Xizang Zizhiqu.

Synonym: (扎嘎曲组)


Lithology and Thickness

It consists of bluish gray, grayish black macro-bedded siltstone, laminar siltstone and sandstone with well-developed sedimentary rhythmite. It is 67 m thick.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It rests conformably onto the underlying Cirenmai Fm of late Ordovician.

Upper contact

It rests conformably below the overlying Qiangshari Fm

Regional extent

Stretching from the type section locality eastwards for about 60 km to Gongbaqiang in Dinggyê County, the formation is composed of silty shale and gets thinner down to   14.2 m thick. The exposures of the formation are observed in southern part of Tingri County and in Dinggye County.

Fossils

The formation yields minor graptolites, namely being: Streptograptus xizangensis, S. lobiferus, Pristiograptus hisingeri, Orthograptus sp., Rastrites sp., Oktavites sp.
